This qualification reflects the role of individuals in the community, home or residential care setting who work under supervision and delegation as a part of a multi-disciplinary team, following an individualised plan to provide person-centred support to people who may require support due to ageing, disability or some other reason.

To achieve this qualification, you must complete at least 120 hours of work as detailed in the Assessment Requirements of the units of competency.

This qualification comprises of 15 units of competency of which the following 9 are core units:

CHCCCS031 Provide individualised support
CHCCCS038 Facilitate the empowerment of people receiving support
CHCCCS040 Support independence and wellbeing
CHCCCS041 Recognise healthy body systems
CHCCOM005 Communicate and work in health or community services
CHCDIV001 Work with diverse people
CHCLEG001 Work legally and ethically
HLTINF006 Apply basic principles and practices of infection prevention and control
HLTWHS002 Follow safe work practices for direct client care

Students choose 6 elective units at time of enrolment, specialising in Ageing or Disability, or both.

Every individual is different. While there are no entry requirements for this course, NV College may interview you to determine suitability and provide advice on the most suitable study pathway.

A popular pathway into the Certificate III is our entry level industry taster Care Ready program.

Unique Student Identifier (USI) – You will need to provide your USI number at enrolment. If you do not have one, please visit www.usi.gov.au and follow the links to ‘Create a USI’. You will be required to provide identification evidence to obtain a USI.

As part of the student entry procedure, we require students to undertake a standardised Language Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) assessment. The results help us to identify a student learning needs prior to training starting.

We understand that everyone has different needs, which is why we offer different delivery options.

You can undertake your training as part of a traineeship with an employer of your choice, part-time or full-time; or you can study at your own pace online with the support of a trainer and attendance at regular face-to-face workshops.

It’s up to you. We’ll be able to provide you with advice once we get to know you.

Your employer or work-placement can be located elsewhere along the Mid-North Coast. We will discuss options with you prior to your commencement.

Upon successful completion of this accredited course, students receive a CHC33021 Certificate III in Individual Support, including a record of results.

Many participants undertaking this course are joining the workforce in care rolls or stay with their traineeship employer. For those wanting to further their career, you can enrol with us in the Certificate IV in Ageing Support.
